After forever (never ran a day in my life), I made a start today, one which I hope to continue.
Joined old friend GK and his running buddies - Raghu and Guru in Bolingbrook's Lily Cache soccer park. There is a beautiful 1 mile loop with a convenient viewer gallery for you to drop off your supplies (water/ gatorade, etc.).
We reached there at 8 am, and started a short while after some warm ups. While GK and his buddies finished 5 miles in 40 minutes, I finished 3 miles in the same time, alternately walking and jogging. After a short break, I did another one mile, while GK and co. did another two miles in the same time I took to do one.
Well, summary for the day - 4 miles, roughly 55 minutes for the 4 miles, and the first two miles went much faster than the last 2.
Tomorrow is a 3 mile run for charity - with Simi and Adi, and that should go Ok, giving me 7 miles for this week.
I did look up some youtube videos on warming up, stretching, hydrating, and boy, is there conflicting information within watching just a few videos.
In other news, I did also register for the Chicago Half Marathon - September-8 this morning, so that makes for a fairly busy AM.
Let us see what tomorrow brings, and will try to track progress here regularly.
Cheers
Shridhar
